Coa Science Laboratories

This 15,000-square foot building incorporates portion of buildings that remained after a fire destroyed the main academic structure on campus. Our solution to the complex planning required by the multiple levels of the existing building was to organize space around a split level circulation system that is both convenient and handicap accessible. The building contains all the teaching laboratories for the College, as well as the design studios and faculty offices.

The style of the building takes its direction from the “summer cottage” architecture of the area, and makes use of decorative shingle patterns and several colors of paint as an economical way to make the building special. The fact that the entire project was constructed during the college’s summer recess was due to our ability to work closely with the builder and the client.
